Lesson 1: Be With Your Feelings
Get deeper with the idea of feeling, working through and releasing heavy emotions with the emotional guidance system concept.
-
Lesson 2: Grieving Your Third Trimester
If you delivered at or before your third trimester this is for you. Practically acknowledge and let go of attachment to certain third trimester desires.
-
Lesson 3: Gathering Support
Narrow down the best points of support for your mental health.
-
Lesson 4: Basic Needs for Survival
Some of these items I sought out, and some I was generously gifted, but I found these specific products and resources to be very helpful on our NICU path.
-
Lesson 5: No Time for PPD: Dealing with Fear and Deep Sadness While Caring for your NICU Baby
The NICU journey consumes our senses, our thoughts and our feelings. Yet at the very same time, somehow you find it within yourself to press on regardless of how you feel. How should you deal with deep pain and sadness while caring for your baby in NICU? Let’s talk about it.

Module 2: Self Care Deep Dive
-
Lesson 1: Stretching
Take a break with me and engage with your mind- body connection to help release some of the stress and tension that has built up from your NICU experience.
-
Lesson 2: Movement Meditation
Once you’ve opened up your energy centers and begin to release some of the places holding tension, it’s important to move that energy through the body in order to keep the channels moving. In this lesson you’ll be led through a simple movement sequence to facilitate that movement and flow of energy.
-
Lesson 3: Affirmations
Affirmations are more than just fluffy words to repeat so you feel better. Through applying consciousness and intention to the words, you have the power to reshape your thinking and unconscious thoughts.
-
Lesson 4: Visualization Meditation
Beyond using your words to affirm a change in your environment, your imagination is another powerful tool. I used this visualization frequently while sitting next to my sons isolate or on the drive home. It can begin to assist in reshaping the reality you want to see, amidst the reality of the NICU.
-
Lesson 5: Learning New Hobbies
I hope you find this lesson as a bonus treat and that you take it with you to bedside! Personally I didn’t finish my project, but it did give me comfort and often eased my nerves while sitting bedside many times, so I hope it can do the same for you!

Module 3: Empowered not Empty: Advocating for Your Baby
-
Lesson 1: Fortifiers or Formula?
In this lesson I compare the differences, and elements between formulas and standard fortifiers in the NICU. Often times these differences aren’t volunteered information by professionals, making it an empowering piece of knowledge as a NICU parent.
-
Lesson 2: Benefits or Risks
The general rule of thumb in the medical field, is weighing the benefit against the risk of every procedure and treatment. Often the answer is that the benefit typically out weighs the risks, but it must be YOUR choice to decide.
-
Lesson 3: YOU as Primary Caretaker
It can be really tough to assume the role of the primary caretaker inside the NICU scenario. In this lesson we will talk about what it means to move with respect and collaboration with your NICU team, and stand in your role of parent being your baby’s primary caretaker even within the NICU.
-
Lesson 4: Trusting Your Gut
How can you trust your intuition at a time when the noise around you can be the loudest? It can be tough, but it is possible and it’s important to tap into this part of yourself. Let’s talk about practical ways to come into alignment with tuning into your gut feelings.
